Kevin Smith Points Out 'Clerks' Homage in ‘Defenders’ Poster

Kevin Smith Points Out 'Clerks' Homage in ‘Defenders’ Poster

It isn’t radical to point out how grungy Marvel and Netflix’s collab series The Defenders looks. Between featuring Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” in the trailer and the show’s distressed, tattered logo (unlike the sleek sheen of The Avengers), the Defenders are like a superpowered indie band that’s too legit for Tony Stark’s money. But on Thursday night, a few hours after their nice-as-heck black and white poster debuted, director Kevin Smith pointed out a possible homage to Clerks, Smith’s first and highly influential ‘90s indie comedy...

A few months ago, filmmaker Kevin Smith announced that his next movie would be Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, a sequel to his 2001 comedy Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Some fans were left somewhat confused, though, since many thought that his next movie would be the conclusion to his True North trilogy, Moose Jaws. As it turns out, the filmmaker isn't abandoning that project at all, taking to Facebook Live earlier today to reveal the first sales artwork for the movie, as it starts to seek funding. Now it seems that this project will come together after Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, which begins production this fall...

Kevin Smith Sent Out Golden Tickets to Fans for Roles in ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’

However, the bad news did come with some good as the writer/director also announced that Miramax was going to let him reach back into his filmography to reboot one of his silliest comedies...

Advice From a Very Unlikely Source

Women’s Running Magazine seems to be one of the last places you would find an article about director/podcaster Kevin Smith. “But sometimes, the best running advice can come from a very unlikely source,” according to Alison Barsalona, who published “How Kevin Smith Taught Me Not To Listen To Haters” on the magazine’s website in October, 2016.

Kevin Smith Developing a Sam and Twitch TV Series

The 1997 Spawn movie turns 20 in August, which means that we’ve been waiting nearly two entire decades for a sequel/reboot. And although Todd McFarlane’s constantly teasing us, it doesn’t seem to be coming our way anytime soon. However, the franchise will be coming to the small screen, as Deadline reports that none other than Kevin Smith is working with BBC America on a TV series centered around the characters Sam and Twitch...

Kevin Smith Still Has Plans For His Clerks 3 & Mallrats 2 Scripts

During a recent episode of his podcast Smodcast, filmmaker Kevin Smith explained to the audience why the Clerks 3 and Mallrats TV series projects fell apart, and why they shouldn't be worried that the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot film, announced the same day he revealed those others were dead, would suffer a similar fate...
